What Is An Osteopathic Physician?

What Is A Root Cause Approach?

Osteopathy also focuses deeply on anatomy (structure) and physiology (function). This relates to how movement, diet, sleep practices and more –create or alleviate pain in various areas of the body. When it comes to treating the individual holistically, DOs apply their knowledge of structure and function but also use hands-on adjustments, called osteopathic manipulation, to help reset and retrain the muscles and bones. Understanding structure and function also goes past muscles, bones, and ligaments to the molecular, cellular, tissue levels. For this reason, many DO’s do specialty testing to see the whole picture, including gut, hormone, and metabolic testing.

Osteopaths who specialize in cranial work (the bones of the cranium) and the fascial coverings (meninges), as well as Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), provide therapies that include proper breathing, better sleep practices, improving central nervous system function, and increasing movement of fluids around the brain, along with other helpful therapies.

What Happens At The Initial Appointment?

During the initial 60 minute appointment, we will review your history, perform an examination and osteopathic treatment. Then we’ll review the findings, connect them to the problem you are having or the symptoms you are experiencing, and discuss a plan for how we’ll help you get well.

What Happens At Subsequent Appointments?

After your initial appointment, follow up visits are 30 minutes in length. You will have an opportunity to share anything that is different since your last visit and ask questions. Then we’ll proceed with osteopathic treatment, or address something else that is part of your treatment plan such as review lab results, or talk about healing foods.

Appointment Fees

The fee for the 60 minute initial visit is $195. The fee for the 30 minute follow up visits are $95.
